My husband is also a recycling crafter although I'm sure such a description would drive him crazy. This is his latest Ulu from an old saw blade and wood handle. Auggie helped make it with his dad. Mike has made quite a few of these for his mom, sisters, my mom and now a co-worker, but I am still waiting for mine. He says mine has to be extra special and although I tease him that is only an excuse, I still think it's very sweet of him.

Alexandra's Halloween costume is finally finished. Honestly, I did it slowly because I know that once the candy was broke out I would hear nothing but "Lolly...lolly...lolly" until Halloween. And I was right! But of course she still needs to try on her outfit. I bought the wings at the Salvation Army and the rest I made. I have never done puffed sleeves and for not using a pattern and using the worst dollar fabric I think it turned out okay. Certainly not my nicest attempt! But Allie is happy as Lolly and that is what is important.

Here Alexandra proudly models her new sling. She says she's just like mom, but I only carry one at a time!

The fabric for this I bought almost two years ago when we bought the house because I wanted to make kitchen curtains with it. I still love the fabric and wonder if the store still carries it as I only bought this much as a sample.

Wool slippers for Alaskan baby feet

Maddie's first mommy made shoes were a huge hit. I made the pink pair last night and the tan one's this afternoon. I have never received better payment for the pink pair. As soon as I got the first one on and in place with a pin until I could add the elastic she was laughing and running and so delighted with her new shoe. Once I got the second one on, she was off trying to run for the first time smiling and babbling what I am sure was something along the line of "my mom is the coolest mom ever. She made me these awesome shoes!" And of course I couldn't find the camera to take a picture of her love. She liked the tan one's a bit, but it's the pink one's she reaches for, so the pink one's she will wear!

This adorable outfit is for a friend (and it's a good thing I like you because I so want to keep this!) It's completely made from one old wool sweater. I took an old 2T hoodie that was completely stained apart for a pattern and got to work. I think it's the nicest thing I've ever made, and I like a lot of my stuff!

My friend is using it for her baby boy's Halloween outfit. He is going to be the cutest Koala ever!

(I also made the shoes, but that is another post)

The arms do match, I was trying for a quick picture before Maddie had a meltdown...she was very sleepy and not wanting to play model.

Princess Declares...GF cookies for everyone

So I was wrong about what I would make next. I wanted to make more doll diapers and accessories, but this fabric had to get out of my stash. I bought it years ago thinking it would make a wrap baby carrier, but it was way too stretchy. It's polyester, so I have no desire to use it for anything really so there it sat taking up tons of space. Today it became dress up clothes. I folding about 2.5 yards in half, sewed a straight stitch about an inch down from the fold, put a ribbon threw the opening for a waist and then sewed the two cut edges together on the bottom layer only. This left the top layer free to became the top when needed. Alexandra says she's the ice cream princess from Candyland. I'll post her Halloween costume which is a different character from Candyland when I finish it.

I'm also proud of the cookie. My first gluten free no sugar added peanut butter cookie. I must say they were yummy!

Tiny tiny diaper.

I'd like to thank this stuffed cow for allowing me to use her as a model for my latest fun creation-doll fitted diapers. This is made just like the one's I make for my daughter only without the extra absorbency (for obviously reasons-right?) I believe the diaper will fit dolls between 9" and 16" but I haven't had a chance to change that many dolls with it. I can see that more ideas will be have to put to fabric. Next post will most likely be on doll wipes, wet bags, and diaper bag for the little ones to carry it all. (the fabric for this project came from a stained 3T t-shirt)

On a more serious note, I couldn't help think of all the preemies while I made this diaper. I had the privilege of making tiny flats and longies for a preemie baby of a friend's friend awhile back. It is wonderful to know that there are moms out there whose dedication to cloth diapering is so great. Extra special wishes to those moms and their precious tiny ones.

I've been wanting to make a skirty forever and to celebrate Maddie learning to walk-I did! I love it, and the fit is perfect. Here's to no more dirty knees!
